How Long does Stovetop Potpourri Last? Personally, I have used the same batch of stovetop potpourri for 3-4 days. After the first day, the stovetop potpourri may not look as beautiful as it did when you began simmering it, but the scent is still very nice. After about 3-4 days, the potpourri will become mushy and it'll be time to discard. Simply drain the excess water and discard the fruit and herbs.
