Black - Chalk Paint® Wax

Coverage will depend on your specific application, amount of coats etc, but an example of wax coverage is the 500ml tin of clear wax will cover 430 square feet or more. 

Annie's Wax can be tinted with any of her Chalk Paint®.  So, if you want pink wax....you can color the wax with a little of our Antoinette Chalk Paint® to make a pink wax.  Want a black-like was? Mix Graphite Chalk Paint® with the clear wax to make a black-like wax.  Keep in mind that adding Chalk Paint® will lessen the end result shine after buffing.

1. Before you start waxing, paint your piece of furniture, working your brush every which way. You don’t want to apply too much pressure. What you’re aiming for is even coverage.
2. Allow the paint to dry.
3. Using a Chalk Paint® Wax Brush or a lint-free cloth, apply Chalk Paint® Wax. Work in large areas, sweeping the wax over the paint.
4. You are aiming to cover every bit of paint. Check that you haven’t missed any sections. Go over them with wax, if so.
5. Using a lint-free cloth, go over the waxed surface quite lightly in order to remove any excess wax.
6. *Optional* If you’d like a polished finish, leave your piece overnight and buff the wax the next day with a clean, lint-free cloth.
7. Whilst Chalk Paint® Wax will be dry within 24 hours, it can take up to 2 weeks to cure (fully harden). You can use the piece during this time, but just with a little caution.

Now you’ve waxed your furniture, you can be confident your paintwork is protected. Any marks can be wiped clean with a damp cloth too. Chalk Paint® Wax offers enough protection for most applications, but if you’d like to protect your flooring, skirting boards or garden furniture, try Chalk Paint® Lacquer instead.

Generally, wiping lightly with a damp/dry microfibre cloth should be sufficient to clean.

Stubborn marks on waxed pieces can often be removed with a little Clear Chalk Paint® Wax on a cloth, which acts as an eraser. If you choose to use cleaner you will eventually wear away the wax, but if you would prefer to use a mild surface cleaner apply using a cloth and test in an inconspicuous area first. Regular use of cleaning products may require re-waxing over time.

Always use heat mats and coasters to protect your painted and waxed surfaces. Keep away from extreme temperatures or humidity. Like you, your finish prefers a moderate climate!

Waxes dissolve in alcohol, so using it on bars is not advisable.

Avoid aerosol spray polishes as they may contain solvents or silicone that could dissolve the wax.

After you’ve applied Chalk Paint® Wax, you’ll find that it will become dry to the touch very quickly. At this stage, it is still what you might call ‘soft’. It will start to harden as the solvents in the wax evaporate. This hardening process is known as ‘curing’. Curing can take between 5 and 21 days depending on ambient temperature.

You can use your finished piece straight away, but you may need to treat it with extra care until the wax has cured completely (you might want to use coasters, avoid sharp objects etc). Once cured, a piece of furniture painted with Chalk Paint® and finished with wax will stand up to normal wear and tear.
